Son Doong Cave

Son Doong Cave – is the largest natural cave in the world. This cave is located in the caves of Phong Nha-Ke Bang. Cave is part of the underground system with connections to more than 150 caves , located near the border Laos.
April 22, 2009, delegation of British Caving Association led by Howard Limbirt announced the discovery of the cave and said that the scale of the Son Doong cave is actually the world’s largest cave.
Limestone mountains Vietnam-Laos border areas are more like Phong Nha cave was known long ago, but the Son Doong cave was discovered only in 1991 when Ho Khanh, a local people accidentally found when escaped on entrance to avoid the rain. With a period in 2006 when the expedition British Caving Association to the area, the Ho Khanh has informed them his exploration. It took a long time to find again the entrance which is located deep in the jungle with pretty rugged terrain, away from the road and can not found on Google Earth. Under his guidance, they went deeper into the cave, took photograph, measure and collect scientific data. They also gave Ho Khanh a great honor to named the cave.</>
